God’s Revealing Light Overcomes ALL Darkness

How often do life’s daily challenges weigh you down? Responsibilities and obligations in our work and personal lives can take a toll on us. You may find yourself unable to make wise decisions about how to manage it all. Often this even affects our physical stamina. Perhaps at times you feel somewhat of a darkness hanging over you even during the brightest hours of the day. Be encouraged, God sees you and wants to shine His light into your dark places.

Better still, God calls us out of our darkness and into His light-giving life! Each of us can personally experience our eternal God as the Light of our life. Everyone has the capacity to receive and absorb God’s light-giving life.

Scripture defines God as The Eternal Spirit, the One who existed before time began and will exist after time passes. He is the Spirit Being who created this vast time, space, and matter universe we are born into, live in, and in many ways are confined to. Can any of us really relate to this?

Intricate Part of God’s Essence

Thankfully, Scripture helps us relate to this Eternal One by identifying an intricate part of His essence as Light.

God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness (1 John 1:5.)

Any other light source is really just a reflection of the light that is God; much like the light of the moon is merely a reflection of the light of the sun.

Since God is Light, all enlightenment we receive must originate with Him and flow from Him as revealing insight. Revealing light overcomes the darkness in any situation or circumstance. Jesus said the light of God’s presence will eventually reveal all that is secret, hidden and unknown.

For there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known (Matthew 10:26.)

Jesus Demonstrated the Image and Likeness of God that We are Designed to Emulate.

While none of us can comprehend this full essence of God, we can begin to understand and relate to Him through His expressions. Two thousand years ago God shared a unique expression of His light in the life of Jesus Christ who demonstrated the image and likeness of God that we are designed to emulate.

In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men (John 1:4.)

There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man (John 1:9.)

For God,…is the One who has shone in our hearts, to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6-7.)

I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me…will have the Light of life (John 8:12.)

We are birthed into this life so we can grow and develop as children of God. We cannot be images and likenesses of God without receiving and partaking of His light. This is how we learn to reflect and resemble (image and likeness) His heart; His character, attitude and personality.

We cannot be images and likenesses of God without receiving and partaking of His light.

The Old Testament sheds initial insight on God’s intention for our life. The 11th chapter of Hebrews gives us a short list of the graphic ways people experienced God during that time.

Jesus came into the earth two thousand years ago so we could better comprehend God and relate to Him as the Light of our life. He revealed that God loves us enough to forgive our errant ways; He wants to teach us how to live, and guide us into levels of maturity as children of God.

God Intends All of Us to Receive His Light of Life

The New Testament illustrates through the life and words of Christ and His disciples that we are all intended to receive this Light of Life, and learn to live godly lives.

God…called us with a holy calling…according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity…revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who…brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:9-10.)

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory…For we who live are constantly being delivered…so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh (2 Corinthians 3:18; 4:11.)

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life (1 John 5:20.)

Since we all have spirit as part of our make-up, the spirit of life; we are all equipped with spiritual senses that enable us to see, hear, touch, taste and even smell the presence of God among us. The spiritual side of our five senses enables us to observe what God is saying and doing.

Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you (Isaiah 60:1.)

Everyone Has the Capacity to Absorb God’s Light-giving Life.

When we observe and partake of the life of Jesus, we really begin to experience God as the light of our life. Everyone has the capacity to receive and absorb God’s light-giving life.

Not far from any of us, our heavenly Father continually seeks to interact with each of us. God dwells among us, with us, and in our midst. He invites us into a personal relationship through His anointing presence, Jesus Christ. In His relational way of life we can absorb His insightful guidance. More than inheritors of “someday,” in His fellowship we can partake of an eternal quality of life every day.

Greater depths of light and understanding come as we experience the fellowship of His presence.

We are all designed to be reflective resemblances of God and to share His light with others.

Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars (Daniel 12:3.)

God is calling us out of every dark place today. When we look to Him, He will show us His way out. As we allow the Light of life to penetrate our consciousness (the activity of our mind, will and emotion), we are progressively transformed into God’s best intention for us. As His offspring, we are designed to observe, partake of, and reflect the Light of life. Are we taking God up on His eternal provision?
